NobleReach Scholars Program: Paid Public-Service Careers for New Graduates

The NobleReach Scholars Program places recent graduates in paid, yearlong jobs with government agencies across the United States, plus a one-time $18,000 stipend and an intensive bootcamp in Washington, DC. Applications for the August 2027 cohort close on 9 December at 11:59 PM EST, so start your file now: the application asks for a resume, transcripts, a reference and four short written answers.

What the year actually looks like

Your year starts with a 1.5-week bootcamp in Washington, DC, covering government operations, innovation methods and practical problem-solving. Attendance is fully in person, and you arrange your own travel and lodging.

After the bootcamp you work in your placement for a year, alongside yearlong programming, and then join the alumni community. Most roles are hybrid or fully in office, so discuss working patterns in interviews.

The four fields you can apply in

You must choose exactly one strategic domain. Pick the field where your experience is strongest, because employers will judge you on real evidence from jobs, internships, volunteer work, coursework or research projects.

  • Artificial Intelligence: AI tools for public problems and better government services.
  • Business Process Innovation: redesigning government work so services run better.
  • Computing and Cybersecurity: building and protecting government systems and networks.
  • Materials and Manufacturing Engineering: engineering for production and industrial challenges.

Check yourself against the rules before you start

Treat this list as a hard filter. Missing one condition means your application will not move forward.

  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited institution, earned between December 2023 and August 2027.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher from your most recent degree.
  • Real interest and experience in one of the four domains above.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate within the United States for your placement.
  • US citizenship, or authorisation to work in the US without employer sponsorship.

The work authorisation rule catches people out, so read it carefully. NobleReach does not sponsor work visas. Lawful permanent residents, US nationals and people holding a valid Employment Authorization Document can qualify, but F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) are explicitly not accepted, because of the programme’s start timing.

Who should not apply

Do not apply if you cannot relocate, since no one can promise a role in your current city. Do not apply if you need visa sponsorship, if your degree falls outside the stated window, or if your GPA is below 3.2.

How to apply, step by step

Applications go through the NobleReach application portal. Gather everything before you open the form, because it should be complete and accurate when you submit it.

  1. Prepare your resume, showing clear evidence in your chosen domain.
  2. Gather unofficial transcripts, including for your most recent degree.
  3. Ask one professional or academic reference for permission, and have their details ready.
  4. Write four short answers about your experiences and fit, in your own words.
  5. Submit through the portal well before the deadline, then watch your inbox closely.

On the short answers, write about work you actually did and what changed because of it. AI tools may help as a writing aid, like spell-check, but answers must be genuinely yours; false information means immediate withdrawal. Ask your reference early. Similar fellowships on this site include the World Bank Government Analytics Fellowship and the Internet Society Fellowship Program.

What happens after you apply

After you submit, NobleReach reviews your materials and may contact you at any time with questions or an interview invitation, so check your inbox regularly. Interviews run by NobleReach last 30 minutes and take place virtually. If you are selected as a Finalist, you will be notified by mid-March, then expect further partner interviews, usually virtual, where technical skills are tested.

Matching works differently from a normal job hunt. Employer partners can view Finalists’ resumes and reach out directly to the people they want to interview, and new positions are approved on a rolling basis, so interest may arrive over weeks rather than all at once. NobleReach supports you and can help you weigh choices between opportunities, but most direct communication about specific roles happens between you and the employer. Timelines can also shift because of government budget or policy changes.

If you are applying for other jobs at the same time, know the rule in advance: accepting an outside offer will usually mean withdrawing as a Finalist. A narrow exception exists if the outside role is with a government body, or an organisation working alongside government for the public good, and matches your chosen domain, but you must contact NobleReach right away to discuss it.

What the pay really means in practice

The salary is set by your host employer, not by NobleReach, and it varies with location, role and experience. The official page expects most Scholars to earn between $70,000 and $90,000, so treat that as a realistic range rather than a promise for every role. The $18,000 stipend is separate from your salary and is paid once. There is no separate relocation fund, but you may use the stipend at your own discretion, so it can help with moving costs and bootcamp travel.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I apply for both the February and August cohorts?

A: No. The two cohorts are separate processes; apply to the one whose graduation window and start date fit your situation.
